To expand its business in the rapidly-growing Indian auto market, DENSO Corporation will establish a technical center in Manesar, Haryana by the end of 2011. DENSO's investment in the new technical center will total approximately three billion yen (approximately US35.5 million*). The new technical center will be established as part of DENSO International India Pvt. Ltd. (DIIN).
"With the establishment of the technical center, we aim to improve our customer services and product competitiveness by promoting local development and designs that meet market needs. Transferring product development operations to the Indian market from DENSO's headquarters in Japan, will allow sales and technological functions to collaborate more closely and enable them to quickly respond to both the market and customer needs," said Hikaru Sugi, Senior Managing Director in charge of DENSO's Engineering Research and Development Center.
Activities at the new technical center will include: development of automotive technologies for power-trains, electric and electronic systems, information and safety systems, and small motors. Also, with the establishment of DENSO Subros Thermal Engineering Centre India Ltd. (DSEC) in January 2011, a DENSO subsidiary to design thermal products, DENSO will enhance its technology development system to support business growth in India.
